COLOR STUDIO
Along the historic boulevard system in Chicago on the west side of the city exists a stretch of the corridor that has an abundance of open space. Through a phased strategy for re-investing in public arts programming, the wide median and three lots of connected land would be activated by adding pops of personalized color to the area. Painted boards would be planted by members of the community as a way to claim space in preparation for plantings and eventual gardens. The long-term vision of creating an arts center would emerge from a landscape that reflects the community and would support future programming in the immediate and surrounding neighborhoods.
